ELKTON, Va. (WHSV) — The town of Elkton is currently working on a nearly $4 million expansion project on its wastewater treatment plant, hoping to prepare for future growth.
With this project, the town is doubling the capacity of daily flow coming into the plant. Mayor Wayne Printz says a waste treatment plant is the backbone of any town, because if the facility can’t handle the volume, things will have to shut down.
While the work is meant to prepare the town, Printz says the area is growing.
“We’ve had numerous people buy many different properties,” said Printz. “We have developments that are being proposed before us and I just think we’re on the cusp of a great boom for Elkton, but I wanna be prepared. It needs to be conservative, controlled growth.”
